Alida Wilkinson

Alida Wilkinson is a visual artist born and raised in New York City. She received a B.A. in Visual Arts from Bowdoin College in Maine and is currently based in Brooklyn. Working with liquid ink on mylar — a volatile, fast-drying combination of materials that compels her to relinquish control and embrace unpredictable outcomes — Wilkinson’s creative practice has encompassed portraiture, immersive landscapes, empty rooms, and snapshots of daily ritual. Throughout, a unifying impulse persists: a desire to archive moments, rendering them in a way that feels both immediate and ethereal, as memories often do. Her project Tender Archive, presented at Pen + Brush Gallery in Manhattan, transformed a personal archive into a collective one, inviting strangers to submit photographs that she then painted and added to an ever-growing installation — an archive of shared memory. Wilkinson also co-leads the Being An Artist Course, supporting visual artists, writers, and filmmakers worldwide.
