surprising, lesser-known Black history

 facts and sharing these stories with children.

i am drawn to stories that have elements of adventure,

 wonder and movement- this is very much a

part of Black history and life, too!

the stories that i write are researched and excavated with love,

each tale rooted in actual history.

the Afro-hippie/futurist in me

 delights in elevating stories

 that i wish i was told when i was younger.

my mission is to inspire children to enjoy

  learning about their history and to

envision themselves living life to the fullest,

knowing that everything is possible!

if we look a little deeper, we will stumble upon

 history that shows Black people as global

 citizens: traveling the world, designing abroad,

creating brilliant art, surfing……

I hope to fill in the gaps and shed

light on the joy and adventurous spirit

 that is the essence of Black life.
